Chapel Hill High School hired Travis Mihalik in the May 2016 to lead the Track & Field Program. Mihalik has had big shoes to fill, as legendary Coach Kelly Williams embarked on retirement from track & field. Mihalik enters his 5th year as the Head Coach of the Chapel Hill High School track and field team. He also oversees the long sprints, pole vault, and relays. 

In 2018, The Girls team captured their 2nd consecutive AAAA GHSA Track & Field state title as well as the Region 5-AAAA Championship. The Boys Team finished 3rd and were crowned Region 5-AAAA Champions. The girls 4x100 Team of Joy Scott, Derica Price, Kayla Alexander, Ilene Soleyn Continued the streak on the girls side of winning their second consecutive State Championship for the Girls Program.

In 2019, The Girls team captured their 3rd consecutive AAAA GHSA Track & Field state title as well as their third consecutive Region 5-AAAA Championship. The Boys Team finished as State Runner-Up and were crowned Back to Back Region 5-AAAA Champions. At State, in the Relays, the Girls 4x400 Team of Zaria White, Kimora Cook, Joy Scott, and Ilene Soleyn were State Champions. The Boys 4x400 of Jayden Braxton, Shawn Langley, Prince Williams, and Jaylen Slade completed the sweep and earned State Championship Honors and set a new school record of 3:18.41. The Girls 4x100 relay team of Joy Scott, Derica Price, Kimora Cook, and Ilene Soleyn continued the streak on the girls side of winning the 4th consecutive State Championship for the Girls Program. At State, Shawn Langley earned a Silver Medal in the 400 and set a new school record of 47.71. In addition, he place 4th in the 800. On the Girls side, Ilene Soleyn earned a Silver Medal in the 400 and placed 5th in the 800. Soleyn also broke the school record in the 800 with a time of 2:12. In addition, Kimora Cook placed fourth at State.

In 2020, the season ended early due to COVID-19, but there were some performances to be recognized. Starting off, the relays had a great start to the season. The Men's 4x200 (S. Lagley, J. Slade, T. Nunnally, M. Hill)  set a new school record with a time of 1:27.99. Both the Boys & Girls 4x200 (J.Scott, M. Walker, D.Price, K.Cook) had a #1 AAAA State Ranking and the men had #1 overall Georgia Ranking and the girls #2 overall Georgia Ranking. The Girls 4x100 (J.Scott, M. Walker, D.Price, K.Cook) had #1 AAAA State Ranking and #10 overall Georgia Ranking.  The Boys 4x100 (S.Langley, A. Johnson, J. Slade, T.Nunnally) had a #2 AAAA State Ranking and #4 overall Georgia Ranking. In Pole Vault, M.Walker led the state in AAAA with a early jump of 11-6. In the 400, S. Langley had a great start of the year with #2 ranking in AAAA and in Georgia. Although the season ended early there was still plenty of recognition off the track for Chapel Hill Athletes. Joy Scott was named Northwest Atlanta Positive Athlete Regional Winner in girls Track & Field. Furthermore, Jaylen Slade was named Gatorade Georgia Boys Track & Field Athlete of the Year.
